In 2010 Northern Lights will once again be sending teams to Europe!

WHO: Players from our 16's, 17's, & 18's age groups.

WHEN: The 18-1 and 18-2 team will both have the opportunity to select either attending the Big South Qualifier, or the Crossroads Qualifier, or going to a tournament in a town close to Venice Italy over Easter.

A team of 16's and/or 17's will have the option of going to Europe in July for about 11 days.

WHERE: The 18's trip would play in one of two tournaments taking place in the Venice area. Before the tournament we would spend 3-5 days sight-seeing other areas such as Rome & Florence. Total trip time would be about 9 days. Departure would be approximately March 28th and returning April 6th.

The summer 16/17's trip is planned to start in Paris, head over to Lyon, then to Geneva, and then take a night train to the Croatian coast and the beautiful seaside town of Pula. In Paris, Lyon and Geneva we would play against other club teams or train with Youth National teams. In Pula we will participate in the Global Challenge tournament with 11 other teams from around the world for 4 days. During our stay in Pula we will also see the many sites in and around that town and we will also get to know the girls from the various other European countries. After the tournament concludes we will go to Venice for our final day of sightseeing before flying home. Total trip time would be 10-12 days. Departure from the USA would be around July 9 with a return around July 22.

COSTS: Northern Lights is fortunate to have some funding provided specifically for International travel this year. This is going to allow the players to have very low costs for these trips.

The 18-1/18-2 trip would be in place of a Qualifier and USJO Nationals. The 18's may also select to attend an additional Qualifier and USJO Nationals at additional cost.

The 16/17's trip would cost each player airfare to Europe in the summer which last year was about $1500. Northern Lights will cover any additional ground cost (hotels, bus, meals, sight-seeing).

MISC: Parents are permitted to travel with the team. The cost for a parent traveling with the 18's trip is unknown, but last year was about $950 for the ground portion. The cost for a parent traveling with the 16/17's team is expected to be $2100.
