Club Costs

Northern Lights costs include all uniforms, coaches, gym time, equipment, travel . . . everything is included in the cost listed for each team. There are no hidden costs! If you want to play, there is a way! Last year our players and their families raised over $50,000, with several athletes raising almost 100% of their club costs.

Again for 2008: Grants!

Northern Lights Junior Volleyball will be offering $500 grants for players that need financial assistance. Up to 10 of these grants will be offered by the club each season.  In order to comply with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules pertaining to receiving financial aid:

• The aid must be based on financial need, not athletic ability.
• The rules for offering the aid must be clearly stated.

Players can apply for special financial assistance. Preference will be given to those that meet the following guidelines:

1. They play on a Northern Lights team that costs $2,500 or more.
2. Their annual household income is less than $60,000, (Add $5,000 for each daughter that is a member of Northern Lights Junior Volleyball).
3. They play on a Northern Lights 14 & Under, 15 & Under, 16 & Under, or 17 & Under team.

To apply for one of these grants you must do the following:

1. Tryout out and be selected for a Northern Lights team meeting the criteria stated above.
2. Go to the FinAid website to calculate your Expected Family Contribution (EFC).
   • For Show select "Detailed Output"
   • For Need Analysis Methodology select "Federal Methodology"
   • For Use Tables for Award Year select "2008-2009"
   • For Student Status, leave the default values
   • For Family Information, enter the number of children in college or children in private school
   • Enter your financial information and use $5,000 for the cost of the school.
3. Run the calculation, print the "Detailed Output", and submit to Northern Lights Junior Volleyball by November 27th at 8:00 am.

If more than ten players apply for financial assistance, applicants will be ranked by financial need and the top ten will receive the grants. Recipients will be notified by December 8th.

Fund Raising

Players and / or parents also have the opportunity to work in our concession area, handle door admissions, be site and building supervisors, or do several other club activities to raise funds for their fees. Each player in our club also has the opportunity to receive a $300 credit simply by helping with the setup and takedown of the Northern Lights Qualifier.
