The 17-1's finished their 1st round of pool play today. They had to win both matches today in order to advance. Their first match was against Topeka Impact and after losing the first game they came back and won the next 3 games to win the match. Their second match was against Texas Tornadoes, a team we have both beaten and lost to. The girls were pumped up to play this match and it showed as they won the match in 3 straight games. This put the 17-1's in the top 12 of the Open Division and set them up for a Challenge match at 6 pm against Renaissance from Cleveland. It was a very exciting match. Lights won game 1, then lost games 2 & 3. Game 4 Lights dominated and won. It all came down to game 5, an entire season resting on one 15 point game. Lights opened up strongly and took a 4-0 lead before Renaissance scored. Lights got the ball back and ran the score up to 8-3 at the side switch. Renaissance once again got the ball back and ran off a few points. Lights finally sided out and for the next few points they traded sideouts. At 11-8 Brianna Haugen went back to serve, and Renaissance never got the ball back again, with Brianna serving an ace on the last two points of the match! This put the 17-1 team in the final 8 team Gold Bracket! They will play at 8 am on Tuesday in the Gold Championship bracket with their first match against TAV. The 17-2's played a three team pool today followed by a challenge match. Their first match of the day was against Red Price and they won that match fairly easily in 2 games. Their second match was against Ultimate, and they lost in 3 close games. This put them second in the pool and set them up for their 8 pm Challenge match to get into the Gold Championship bracket. In the Challenge match they played Sports City. Unfortunately they 17-2's couldn't pull it out, and they lost in 2 games. This put them out of contention for the Gold, but they are still in contention to win the Silver and place 9th overall. Click here to see pictures of the 17-2's from today.

The 15-1's started their tournament in the 15 National Division this morning at 8 am. They had two matches today. In the first match against Downstate Jrs they easily won in two games. Their second match was against Colorado Jrs and they also fairly easily won that match in two games. They only had 2 games today so after finishing playing they watched the 17-1's win their match against Topeka Impact....thanks for the support girls. They then went back to the hotel and ended up going to the local burger joint Hang 10 for dinner. The 15-1's will have 3 matches on Tuesday starting at 8am.Click here to see pictures of the 15-1's from today.

The 15-2's started their tournament in the 15 American Division this afternoon at 2pm. They played St Louis CYC in the first match and won a Marlon heart stopper in 3 games. They then played their second match against Fonddulac 15's and won that match in 2 games. (probably because Curt was watching.) After finishing their match they hustled over to the 17-1's Challenge match and did a Super job of cheering them on.....Thanks girls! The 15-2's will have 3 matches on Tuesday starting at 3pm. The 16-1's, 16-2's and 16-3's arrived in Dallas today. The 16-3's got in early so they ended up going to the Aquarium for a couple of hours until we could get into their rooms. The 16-1's & 2's both arrived later, had a quick dinner and then came over to cheer on the 17-1's in their Challenge match. All three of the 16's teams will start play on Tuesday.
